Dear Readers,
Firstly, I want to apologize that I haven't posted again since Monday. I have some personal things going on right now that include an interview out of town tomorrow (which could lead to moving out of town), along with some medical issues with my child. I promise to get a post up, ASAP. I still have a lot of things to do tonight before leaving tomorrow, and so I cannot guarantee that it will happen tonight. I will be gone all day/night tomorrow, and have out of town family coming in Saturday during the day. So what I will promise is that sometime between now and Sunday I will have either one very long post up, or two separate posts.
Secondly, I've started receiving multiple comments about a posting schedule, or lack thereof. I want to say that in a way I'm flattered that you all are enjoying the story and/or my writing so much that you are excited to keep reading and want consistency. So thank you. However, I unfortunately cannot commit to a posting schedule. I've explained this to several comments before, but now I'll put it in a more public forum for those that have missed that. I am a person of my word. I would LOVE to give you all a consistent schedule, however, I know me, and I also know my life in its present state. Due to all of the unknowns happening in my life and my work schedule (which at times includes being on-call), I cannot give a permanent schedule. So I don't want to say I will write and post at a certain time, and then not do it. It isn't because I don't want to, but because I can't. In addition to that, I write this blog because it is an outlet for me from a crazy life where I write about really serious, non-creative things every day. My real life job is extremely stressful, and so I love writing something that allows me to "escape reality" for a little bit, no matter how small this might be. Plus, me knowing myself and my history, if I give a set posting schedule, I will feel obligated to have to write, which may suck some of the joy out of it for me, and my posts may not be quality. There is a reason I haven't added ads to my blog. It's because I don't want this to feel like a job, or to make money off of it. I want to write for me, and also for all of you. And I want it to be enjoyable for all parties.
So, thank you, thank you, thank you, to those who continue to check back and who are patient with me. I really do hope someday, I can give a consistent posting schedule, and stick to it. Potentially after moving. But for now, everyone will have to deal with my current commitment of 2-3 posts per week. THAT I can do, and won't go back on (except maybe this week, but I explained that earlier). I hope that is fair, and explains a little more as to why I don't have a schedule. And if it isn't, I really am sorry.
But again, thank you, to everyone, for your kind comments and excitement, and for reading all about Aleah :)
Good luck with the interview!
ReplyDeleteAs much as I would love a posting schedule, I love your blog enough to check back often for a new post. I did really like when you posted in the comments though when to roughly expect the next post to happen. Maybe this is something you could keep doing, I found that super helpful.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work and good luck at your job interview!
Thank you so much :) I'm so happy that you love it. I could probably do that every once in awhile. I do try, if I know it's going to be 3 days after a post when I post again, to give a warning as soon as I realize that, but in the comments, when people ask about when I'm posting again, I definitely respond and try to give an estimate. I'll try to do that a little more consistently. Thank you for the helpful feedback!
DeleteI really understand where your coming from and your kids come first.. Thank you for taking the time to let us know and I'll be looking forward to the post when you get it up!! I like the fact you don't leave us hanging you at least come and tell us what is maybe going on and when you'll post again! Thank you and I'll be back to read when it's up!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for understanding. I try to keep everyone informed. As much as it can be frustrating to have a lack of a posting schedule, anyway, I also read multiple blogs, and what I really don't like is when they just disappear for no rhyme or reason. I know life happens, and I know all of my readers understand that, too, which is why I think it's fair to type up a quick blurb to let everyone know to not expect the 2-3 per week every once in awhile. But I won't leave you all hanging unless a major emergency happens.
Deleteto be honest, I wouldn't be able to remember a posting schedule anyways. I have a few blogs I read, and they are all on schedules, and I can't for the life of me remember who posts on what day. So I just check every day anyways for all of them. lol
ReplyDeleteYour comment made me laugh because that's exactly how I am! Before I started writing this blog, which was also before I had a blogspot account, I just bookmarked the blogs I read in my phone and checked them daily. So I appreciate your lack of a memory of their posting schedules, because I do too :)
DeleteI actually like the no posting schedule cause then its a surprise when there is a new post instead of knowing if there will be one or not lol!! I love the story and can't wait to see what happens next. Good luck with the interview and everything else going on.
ReplyDeleteRoberta
Well, good :) I think you are the first I've ever had say they like that I don't have a schedule!! But, that's a very positive way to view it, so thank you! I have some major things that will be happening in Aleah's life coming up. It's about 2 1/2 weeks behind right now, but by the time I get the story timeline caught up, there will be some major things going on in her life. I'm glad you love it :) Thanks for reading!!
DeleteI don't have a problem with the posting schedule, however I do have a problem with your visual format. It is really hard to read. The red print on white is awful. Can you maybe work up a better, more readable page??
ReplyDeleteThank you.
Good luck with the interview and your child. Your family should always come first. I don't have a problem with the format but in some cultures writing in red is considered insulting. You might be inadvertently insulting and pushing away readers.
DeleteAnonymous #1- So, to be honest, I've kind of given up trying to fix my format. It's nothing personal to you, but I've had complaints, since the beginning, from some people, and others haven't had an issue with it, that until I get another free moment to do it (potentially next weekend, but I'm not sure) it will have to stay as is.
DeleteHopefully, eventually, I'll appease everyone.
Anonymous #2- Thank you. I agree with that, and they definitely do. I might be, but I hope that everyone knows that is definitely not my intention. I will probably change it back to black eventually, but I don't have time to do that at the moment.
I'm with KBear. I check several blogs every day. You never know who will surprise with a bonus post. Do what you gotta do. Like you said, this is an outlet for you. We simply get to benefit from it. You don't owe us anything, but I appreciate the explanation.
ReplyDeleteGood luck on your interview, blessings! mum
Before I had my blogspot account (which I made when I started writing this) I did the exact same thing! I always checked every blog every day, because I couldn't remember posting schedules. Thank you for reading and your comments. :)
DeleteWorry about real life first, and Aleah after all of that.
ReplyDeleteI'm with some of the others here, in that I have a bunch of serial stories bookmarked. I get email notices about new posts from some, but usually check through the group in the morning, and then mid afternoon to see who has a new post up. If that isn't good enough for someone, too bad, they can write their own story for free and see how that works out!
You are so right! Thank you for the encouragement and thoughts. I can be challenging to respond to negativity, but I take the good with the bad. I don't mind criticism, I just get frustrated responding to the same thing almost every single post (about a lack of a posting schedule) so I figured if I made a PSA, maybe that would be an explanation enough for everyone so then I don't need to explain it every single time.
DeleteI'm with everyone else, post when you can and we will be here to read it. It's a great story and like your other readers...I'm hooked! Thank you for writing and making my work day a little more entertaining! For what it's worth, I think your format is just fine.
ReplyDeleteThank you for reading and commenting :) I'm glad you are enjoying it!! And you are most welcome. I love being able to provide an entertaining story for you to follow during work :)
DeleteAnd thanks for the format comment. I'll probably eventually just change the color of the print to black again, and hopefully that'll fix whatever the problem is for some.
Where are you aleah?
ReplyDeleteI'm baa-aack! :)
DeleteHey all... New post will be up later tonight and I'll respond to all these comments then!!!
ReplyDeleteYay! I am hoping everything is going okay on your end and that the interview went well! I am down for you to post whenever you have time, rather than post stuff you are not happy with.
DeleteI am however excited to her how she will approach the "thor" situation lol.
Thank you much! The interview went... alright. I think that if I want the job, it's mine, but I'm not sure if it's a change I want to make at this point.
DeleteThank you for understanding my sentiment about the quality of my posts :)
Oh, she will deal with Thor at some point, I just don't know that it'll be how everyone is expecting :)
Thanks for reading!
I'm not a blogger and can't say I understand your frustration. I love your blog and agree that your personal life comes first. I liked how you respond to readers but I'm turned off by your comments today to them. You come off very condescending in some. Life happens but don't be so sensitive. It makes a lot of us not want to comment. Readers ask about a posting schedule because you keep saying expect two or three posts per week but that hasn't happened in weeks. You do let us know when you have an emergency but it's after days of waiting. I'm saying post when you'd like but don't promise multiple posts when you can't produce. I hope my comment don't offend you.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you feel that my responding comments were condescending. They definitely weren't intended that way. Unfortunately, what my intended tone is can be lost in writing, and so what people read may not be what was meant. I wasn't being sensitive, just honest. I think we will have to agree to disagree about my posting 2-3 per week. When you say weeks, the only week that hasn't happened was last week. I think the issue may be that some weeks my posts have been Mondays/Saturdays, which makes it seem like I'm not posting as frequently as I say I will. And usually, the reason why it takes me so long to post a quick explanation to all of you is because the day I post it on, is the day I'm intending to put my actual post up, and when I realize that I'm not going to have the time, I try to alert everyone.
DeleteYour comment doesn't offend you, and I hope you don't take my response as defensive, because it isn't. I'm just wanting to explain, so hopefully you understand why I say or do things the way I do. I appreciate your (and everyone's) comments, regardless if they are positive, negative, supportive, or critical. I do try very hard to be a person of my word, and also to respond to people respectfully, so if you feel I wasn't, I am sorry, because that wasn't my intention. I am happy you are loving the blog, though, and hope you continue to like the storyline!
That first line of the second paragraph was mean to say *Your comment doesn't offend me* Sorry about the typo!
DeleteI didn't know that you write and post the same day. I felt your responses about the comments were very defensive. The Red text doesn't bother me but I was taught in school that that color is offensive to many. Thank you for responding.
DeleteI'm a few days late on the commenting, and I never comment as is.. But I wanted to say I truly love your blog! And I'm one of the many who doesn't care about a posting schedule! I love being surprised by when you post, and it only takes two seconds to check whether you've posted or not! You're a wonderful writer, and your blog is one of my favorites! I always look forward to your posts! Thank you for your time and effort! And it is highly admirable that you keep to your word; and stay true to yourself, despite pressure to do otherwise. I absolutely LOVE that you respond to feedback, good or bad, in a respectful way! I understand that some people might not respectful feedback all the time, or are rude and unappreciative, but it is SO nice to see that you respond to it in a mature way. I was a huge reader from the very start of Cosmo/LSP, and my opinion of the blog went down the drain when she started lashing out at criticism, and I see a lot of other writers do the same thing. I just wanted to commend you on being wonderful all around. Thanks again for the awesome work you do! It is VERY appreciated! Xoxo
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! I really appreciate your sweet words. I'm very flattered :)
DeleteAlthough I really do appreciate all comments, regardless of their nature, comments like these bring a smile to my face. Though I write this blog for not only the readers, but for myself, some days I just get tired when I have free time. Then I think, I can always write tomorrow, but comments like these give me added inspiration! So, thank you so very much!
I don't mind checking every now and then. I love your blog and understand how u feel. Thank you for taking time of you day to entertain us! ~Z
